Teacher

Responsible To: Principal

Goal: To work with students, teachers, administrators, and parents to design and implement a classroom instructional program that facilitates positive growth and change in the knowledge base, thinking, feeling, and behavior of learners, and leads to responsible Christian discipleship.

Job Description: Morrison Academy is committed to providing a quality, biblically integrated education. Essential to making this happen are the eight items listed below. Morrison is looking for teachers who champion these and who want to be collaborative, innovative, and make a positive contribution to the Morrison community.

  • Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  • Common, Guaranteed, Viable Curriculum
  • Reviews and develops quality Understand by Design units to ensure a common, guaranteed, viable, and relevant curriculum.
  • Engage positively with other teachers in the review and development of curriculum programs.

Evidence of Learning

  • Implements assessments that accurately measure student progress of unit learning targets and provide evidence that informs the decision-making process.
  • Continuously monitor the learning process in the classroom and makes appropriate modifications of lessons and goals.
  • Engage students and parents in the student’s learning through frequent and meaningful communication. Maintain an attitude of openness and a desire for communication.
  • Maintains an accurate record in PowerSchool of each student's learning progress and daily attendance.
  • Instruction and Learning
  • Uses the most effective and appropriate instructional practices to support mastery of unit learning targets.
  • Considers student needs and interests when planning weekly lessons.
  • Utilizes technology to extend and enrich the unit learning targets.
  • Coordinates a variety of learning experiences that extend or apply classroom learning.
  • Designs and maintains a Christ-centered classroom environment that is conducive for learning.
  • Implements an effective Christ-centered classroom management/discipline program which promotes student learning.
  • Engage with students in meaningful activities beyond the classroom which extend learning experiences (e.g. organizing field trips, sponsoring parties and/or clubs, coaching).

Professionalism

  • Contributes positively to the Christ-centered, learning focused school culture and is a productive member in reaching the goals of the School Improvement Plan.
  • Stays current on educational issues, practices, and trends (e.g. assessment, instruction, technology integration, Biblical integration, etc.).
  • Stays current with educational technologies.
  • Openly supports and abides by all school policies and procedures.
  • Engage with the principal to write and review PPR goal(s) to improve one’s practice.

Professional Learning

  • Commitment to the professional learning community process and other professional learning identified through reflective practice.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate a continuing sense of God's direction in working at Morrison Academy.
  • Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree. A Master's degree or evidence of working toward it is preferred.
  • Hold a valid teaching certificate for the subject and grade level to be taught. This certificate must be issued by an authorized agency in the teacher’s home country and/or from the Association of Christian Schools International.
  • Have completed sufficient college course work in their major teaching field.
  • Show recent evidence of professional growth.
  • Agree to abide by decisions of the Board and administration of Morrison Academy.
  • Have signed the Morrison Christian Association Statement of Faith.
  • Maintain necessary ROC government requirements for employment as a teacher at Morrison Academy (expatriate employees only).
  • Give evidence of previous positive teaching experience.
  • Previous international travel and/or teaching experience are preferred.

Work Requirements:

  • 40 hours per week minimum, based on a 5-day week.

  • Voluntary involvement in co-curricular activities is encouraged and needed.

Learning Needs Specialist

Responsible To: Principal
Goal: Organize interventions for struggling students who are not meeting their academic potential, particularly in reading and math.\\
Duties:

  • Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  • Assist parents and teachers in understanding the learning needs of students needing extra support to meet classroom expectations and in understanding how to modify or accommodate for individual learning needs. Observe and evaluate these students and keep documentation about findings of observations.
  • Organize and lead intervention team and ARD meetings.
  • Monitor student progress when interventions are implemented.
  • Assist teachers, principals and others to identify and serve students with identified special needs.
  • Work collaboratively with parents and staff to determine the need for intervention and assist in developing an ILP, as needed.
  • Assist teachers and principals in annually reviewing ILPs, as needed.
  • Provide pull-out and inclusion instructional services according to the ILPs.
  • Assure that all special needs intervention team and ARD files are kept organized and confidential as defined in LN procedures.
  • Arrange for Psychologist and System Diagnostician visits at your site. Oversee referrals, including narrowing the number of students to be tested in order to make the best utilization of the Psychologist and System Diagnostician.
  • Stay current on issues concerning special education.
  • Notify the Cashier of all new admissions and exits from the LN program and the applicable LN fees.

Learning Coach

Responsible To: Principal

Goal: Support teachers in a collaborative learning community

Duties:

  • Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  • Assist the Principal in:
  • Planning and implementing the professional learning programs that support professional learning schedule.
  • Promoting teacher leadership and collaboration.
  • Supporting teachers with their professional practice review (PPR) goals.
  • Standards-based education procedures that support standards based education.
  • Facilitating the mentoring program for all new teachers.
  • Coordinating student-teacher experiences once the placement is confirmed.
  • Developing parent communication and workshops that support the SIP.
  • Meet regularly with the Director of
  • Learning and other Learning Coaches to plan professional learning meetings in accordance with professional learning schedule and accreditation.
  • Meet with the principal regularly to prioritize and organize professional learning activities that align with the school improvement plan.
  • Spend time each week in scheduled classroom partnerships (assistance, not formal observations). The goals of these partnerships are to engage with student learning and effective teaching. This support and coaching includes:
  • Standards-based planning of units
  • Alignment of resources to standards
  • Alignment of assessments to standards
  • Closing the achievement gap through formative data and summative data
  • Planning and improving the structure of reassessment cycles
  • Help teachers develop an individual
  • Christian Philosophy of Education.
  • Continue to teach one course in order to maintain and model the relevancy of pedagogical strategies.
  • Support teachers in principal-assigned meetings to work on their PPR goals.
  • Schedule, promote, and support teacher collaboration and workshops. This could include PL meetings and job-alike meetings. These meetings do not require the presence of the coach, but if a group struggles to achieve goals, the principal may assign the coach to attend.
    Meet with the principal at the beginning of the year to determine a weekly schedule that includes teaching, classroom partnership time, and need-based coaching with particular teachers or teaching teams.
  • Collaborate with the Innovation team (ETC, Library Media Specialist, Experiential Learning Coordinator) on campus to see how to assist teachers to develop meaningful, innovative ways of teaching. Promoting innovation through leadership within the innovation hubs.
  • Fulfill applicable responsibilities assigned by the Principal that are consistent with their non-supervisory role.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate a continuing sense of God's direction in working at Morrison Academy.
  • Teaching certification with a minimum of three years of teaching experience. A master’s degree required.
  • Demonstrated
  • Ability to work with others in a professional manner.
  • Educational leadership qualities both in and out of the classroom.
  • Proficiency in implementing the curriculum.
  • Prior work experience at Morrison preferred.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to explore innovation through attending technology conferences and/or collaborating with other coaches in the Morrison system and at other international schools.
  • A record of participation in appropriate, job related professional development activities.
  • Maintain necessary ROC government requirements for employment as a teacher at Morrison Academy.

Work Requirements:

  • Up to 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week minimum, based on a 5-day week.
  • Workdays are specified on the school calendar, plus two 40-hour weeks preceding the first day of the students' school year. (Compensation for this extra week is 1.025 enhanced salary in accordance with salary procedures.)

Educational Technology Coach

Responsible To: Principal

Goal: Support faculty and students in applying technology to enhance learning.

Duties:

  • Inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living by personal example and prayer.
  • Schedule regular opportunities to collaborate with teachers to implement the integration of technology in accordance with Information Technology Procedure.
  • Collaborate regularly with [others on] the Innovation Team (ETCs, ITSs, Library-Media Specialists, and Learning Coaches) to actively seek implementation of innovation and technology initiatives in accordance with the Morrison Technology Plan and the Principal’s priorities.
  • Collaborate with other Education Technology Coaches, the Director of Learning, and the Director of Information Technology Services.
  • Manage campus educational tech budget effectively.
  • Train people and establish procedures in place to operate AV equipment
  • Support grading technology in collaboration with LC
  • Train and support for G Suite Certified Educator 1 and 2
  • Support on-campus student technology literacy and digital citizenship
  • Support ISTE Standard implementation as stated in our Tech Guide
  • Pursue ISTE Certification
  • Continue professional development and use time to research current innovation, educational practices, and cross-campus/consortium collaboration.
  • Principals may assign instructional or additional duties within the limitations of assigned FTE.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates a continuing sense of God's direction in working at Morrison Academy.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of technology as it is used in an educational setting and stay current with advances in technology.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of research-based instructional strategies.
  • Demonstrates an ability to develop collaborative professional relationships.
  • Classroom teaching experience and teacher certification is preferred.

Work Requirements:

  • 40 hours per week minimum, based on a 5-day week, prorated according to the contracted FTE.
  • For the ETC, the maximum FTE is:
    MAC K-12: 1.25 FTE
    MAT & MAK K-12: 1 FTE
  • Teacher work days as specified on the school calendar. The Principal may require an additional week of work before and one week after the teacher work year. Compensation for these extra days will be calculated on an hourly basis, according to the Temporary Workers Wage Schedule, up to 8 hours a day. (Note: Normally, an ETC also teaches at least one class. Teacher FTE is calculated separately from ETC FTE.)
